Kim Seon-ho, who appeared in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and When Life Gives You Tangerines, takes on the role of Joo Ho-jin, the interpreter. Lost in an unfamiliar language and landscape, Mu-hee wanders the streets and happens to run into a man named Joo Ho-jin. Mistaking him for a local who cannot speak Korean, Mu-hee pours out her most miserable and private inner thoughts out loud.
In truth, Ho-jin is a genius interpreter who understands every word she says in real time.
Caught up in Mu-hee’s “funny-yet-sad” situation, Ho-jin ends up accompanying her as the interpreter for her breakup commotion. This becomes the starting point of a strong connection between the two.
2. Reunion as a Top Star and an Interpreter
As time passes, Mu-hee becomes a global top star known as the “Horror Queen,” gaining a massive worldwide fandom through a single film.
On the red carpet, she looks confident and eye-catching, but she still grows noticeably smaller when facing foreign-language interviews. Joo Ho-jin appears in front of her once again. He is assigned as her dedicated interpreter.
Mu-hee feels glad to see Ho-jin, who knows all of her darkest and most embarrassing past moments, yet she remains wary that he might reveal her secrets. Ho-jin also keeps his distance, determined to strictly separate his work from his personal life.
3. A Journey to Correct Mistranslated Hearts
Even as they try to push each other away, the two come together again on a dating reality show called Romantic Trip as cast member and interpreter.
As they travel through unfamiliar destinations together, they begin to move beyond translating words and start noticing the sincerity hidden in each other’s expressions and silences.
Ho-jin interprets the loneliness Mu-hee has hidden behind her image as a top star.
Mu-hee, in turn, discovers the quiet warmth hidden within Ho-jin’s seemingly cold, professional words.
When a short phrase like “Be careful” is translated as “I hope you don’t get hurt,”
the two begin to complete the most difficult translation of all—the translation of the heart.
